Diamond Cut Wheel Restoration in Mitcham: Precision CNC Refurbishment

Specialist diamond cut alloy wheel repair.

Diamond cut wheels are prized for their stunning two-tone finish and mirror-like shine—but they are also notoriously difficult to repair. Scratches, kerb damage, and corrosion cannot be fixed with paint alone. At IQ Tyres in Mitcham, we use specialist CNC machinery to restore your diamond cut wheels to factory-fresh condition.

Our Diamond Cut Restoration Process

We use a three-step, precision CNC process to restore your diamond cut wheels to their original glory:

Laser profiling a diamond cut wheel

1. Laser Profiling

The wheel is first stripped, repaired, and painted. Then, a laser probe scans the exact contours of the wheel face, creating a digital map for the CNC lathe to follow.

CNC lathe cutting the face of an alloy wheel

2. CNC Machining

The lathe then precisely cuts a microscopic layer from the wheel face, removing all scratches and scuffs while recreating the original machine lines.

Applying clear lacquer to a freshly cut diamond cut wheel

3. Protective Lacquering

Finally, a durable, high-gloss clear lacquer is applied to the entire wheel to protect the bare alloy from corrosion and enhance the two-tone effect.

How to Identify a Diamond Cut Wheel

If you look closely at the wheel face, you will see very fine, concentric lines, similar to the back of a CD. The face of the wheel will be bright, bare metal, while the inner parts of the spokes are typically painted a different colour (like silver, grey, or black). If you are unsure, feel free to send us a photo!
